SUMMARY:Evergreen Chamber Orchestra – Fall Concert (Foothills)
DESCRIPTION:Join the Evergreen Chamber Orchestra for a deeply expressive and brilliant afternoon of music that spans the depth of the human soul\, from wordless storytelling to youthful symphonic joy. To celebrate 45 ECO seasons\, each Masterworks Concerts will open with a special piece commissioned from a local composer. Our Fall Concert opens with a special performance highlighting the creative work of Colorado composer Cindi Hsu. Known for her richly colorful\, “storytelling” composition style\, Hsu’s music captures true human emotions with incredible depth and open sincerity\, providing a captivating start to our musical journey. \nNext\, the spotlight shines on the virtuosic Jason Shafer\, Principal Clarinetist for the Colorado Symphony\, as he joins ECO to perform Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s immortal Clarinet Concerto in A Major. Completed just two months before his untimely death at the age of 35\, this masterpiece stands as Mozart’s instrumental swan song. Originally composed for his friend and fellow Freemason Anton Stadler\, this piece is brimming with operatic lyricism and undisturbed\, serene beauty\, the concerto effectively treats the clarinet like a soaring soprano soloist. \nOur Fall concert culminates with Franz Schubert’s vibrant Symphony No. 1 in D Major. Remarkably\, Schubert completed this massive\, impressive piece of orchestral music in 1813 when he was just sixteen years old. Written while he was finishing his studies under the famous Antonio Salieri\, the symphony bursts with a clean\, classical style deeply inspired by Haydn and Mozart. From its stately\, dramatic opening chords to the relentless\, scampering energy of its violin-driven finale\, this youthful masterpiece perfectly showcases the emerging genius of a teenage symphonist. \nProgram: \nCindi Hsu \nThe Intangibles – World Premiere!  \nWolfgang Amadeus Mozart \nClarinet Concerto In A Major\, K. 622 \nI – Allegro \nII – Adagio \nIII – Rondo: Allegro \nJason Shafer – Clarinet \nFranz Schubert \nSymphony No. 1 in D Major\, D 82 \nI – Adagio — Allegro vivace \nII – Andante \nIII – Menuetto: Allegro \nIV – Allegro vivace
