SUMMARY:Festival Task Force Project
DESCRIPTION:Last year ECD conducted on site interviews with participants and audiences at various area events. We also talked with a number of artists/vendors who participated in various arts festivals throughout the greater Denver/Foothills area. \nResponse indicated: \n\nEarly in the summer\, attendance was greater than expected\, that diminished as summer progressed and multiple events overlapped.\nVisitors in this post Covid environment we’re excited to be able to once again get out and enjoy festivals.\nThere were a wealth of festival experiences every weekend for families to enjoy.\nThere were numerous overlapping/competing  events in the greater Evergreen foothills area.\nAttendance throughout the summer was very weather dependent.\nSales reports were sporadic.\nThere was a lack of collaborative/cooperative marketing and outreach between events.\n\nSometime in January/February ECD is looking to bring together organizers and sponsors of: \nSummerfest\,  The Evergreen Fine Arts Festival\, Evergreen Mountain Art Celebration\, The Elk & Arts Fest\, Chili Fest\, Evergreen Rodeo Parade\, Conifer Fest\, Jazz Fest\, Hops Drops\, Open Door Studios Tour\, AWAKE Festival\, Summer Concerts\, and others in the Evergreen area to explore ways of working together. \n If you’re involved with these events please contact us. \nECD has been developing connections throughout the Colorado Arts/Cultural community that can help drive interest and attendance to local festivals. In 2024 we will be formulating an outreach/marketing plan to increase participation from area residents and attract new audiences from Denver and surrounding areas. There are several cross promotional projects and opportunities to explore. \nECD is creating a Festival Task Force to reach out and develop a contact list of festival organizers and sponsors to find a date where we can bring people together to discuss ways to support and promote our arts and cultural  events. \nPlease share your thoughts\, contacts\, and interest in being part of this Task Force. Visit www.evergreencreativedistrict.org \nFollowing Colorado Creative Industries “Call Yourself Creative” guidelines toward state \ncertification\, we have accomplished a lot this past year: \n• ECD has transitioned from an interim Board to a 501 C3 non-profit with an operational Board \nrepresenting a cross section of leaders from the arts\, cultural and business community. \n• We researched and published in the Jeffco Historical Journal\, a 150-year History of the Arts in \nEvergreen which in turn supports our branding Evergreen as a “Haven for Creatives” through \nlocal\, regional\, and state media as part of ECD’s tourism outreach efforts. \n• We commissioned a local artist to design and create our amazing Forever Stamp Logo that \ndrives our messaging\, “Creativity Lives Here” \n• ECD has been recognized by the leadership of the 30 other Certified Creative Districts in \nColorado and have been invited to be actively involved in efforts to further promote \nEvergreen’s creative industry throughout the state. \n• Our ECD website and Creative Calendar was launched this fall and continues to develop as \nwe modify its format and content based on feedback from the creative community. \n• Major articles published in Mountain Connection and Serenity Magazines announced and \nspread our message to area residents and businesses. \n• Public\, Private and Governmental entities throughout Colorado now support the fact that our \nareas largest industry is the Evergreen Creative Industry. \n• We have been recognized and applauded for our efforts by the leadership of Colorado \nCreative Industries (CCI)\, Colorado Business Committee for the Arts (CBCA)\, Jeffco County \nCommissioners\, State and Federal legislators\, the Evergreen Chamber of Commerce and \nother local business leaders. \n• We have brought together the leadership of Evergreens Arts organizations\, area Performing \nArts organizations\, and established a Live Music Task Force to develop collaborative \nprograming and work together to help sustain and promote events and other projects. \n• Responding to requests from neighboring communities\, ECD expanded its reach as a Cultural \nHub\, bringing together arts/cultural entities and creatives in the greater Evergreen area. \n• ECD is working with various Evergreen area nonprofits to help them qualify for regional\, state\, \nand federal grants that they would otherwise not qualify for. \n• We have begun working with Jeffco planning and zoning to impact future developments that \nsupport workforce housing and other initiatives that support our creative industry. \n• The ECD board has developed a long-range strategic plan that will help ensure that the quality \nof life we enjoy and have come to expect in the greater Evergreen Area continues for future \ngenerations. \nWhat’s ahead as we move into 2024: \n• ECD continues along the path towards CCI’s Creative District State Certification\, sustaining \nthe successful accomplishments of 2023\, and building upon them. \n• Major articles promoting the Evergreen Creative District are scheduled to appear in leading \nLifestyle publications. \n• An ECD Grantsmanship Task Force has planned a workshop on January 29th to help area \nnonprofits craft their grant applications. (contact us to learn more) \n• The ECD Performing Arts Task Force is sponsoring and helping to develop grant applications \nfor funds needed to make significant/necessary repairs and renovations to Ovation West \nCenter Stage Theater. \n• The ECD Rising Stars Task Force is playing a major role in the development and sustainability \nof Evergreen’s Got Talent/Conifer’s Got Talent programs.
